“This company was contracted to add a covered porch and build an additional deck adjacent to the covered porch as well as do some other work on railing and basement stairs. Robert and his company came up with an exceptional design of the covered porch and executed the construction in the best way possible. The details of the covered porch were matching the decorative attributes of the original house, the precision of the construction was excellent. The work was initiated as proposed with no delay and it was finished according to the proposed schedule. The communication skills of Robert were exceptional. He addressed all the issues raised during the construction in responsive and friendly manners. “Significant basement renovation involving: turning bare-bones 1/2 bath into finished full bath; building out unfinished storage space into combinations laundry/workout room with tile floor; finishing out basement bedroom (fixing bad drywall; carpeting; build closet); redoing rec room to add useful closet space; finish carpentry and new floor and converting new storage space out of workshop. We did the design ourselves and worked with a separate engineering/architect firm to get drawing and county permits. Rob consulted on different options and price/value tradeoffs with different approaches as we had a firm budget in mind. He was the most responsive, open and helpful of the 3 contractors interviewed. Project went well. Took little longer than expected in part because of new County inspections and some minor re-work. No significant delays and Rob kept us well informed of when he would be working and not and when he needed various decisions or materials that we were responsible for (light fixtures, etc). Rob also worked around the nap schedule of our 2 year old child. We have been very pleased with the final product – Rob’s attention to detail and suggestions on finish carpentry were improvements over our original design. The only issue we have had is with the engineered wood floor – some of which is a product defect addressed by manufacturer’s warranty. Other was “tenting” of board due to poor adhesion with basement floor – we used very wide width boards. Rob was highly responsive in investigating the issue and getting the flooring subcontractor to redo the sections (limited) where there are problems. Overall we were very satisfied with Rob’s responsiveness, quality of work and value for the dollar.” – Philip R.
“They removed and old sunroom, expanded and updated kitchen and built a large family room addition. We were looking to add more space to our small 1950’s Cape Cod Home and were somewhat nervous about having a large addition added to the house, especially since we have two small children. We wanted to take out a wall, gut and expand our kitchen and add a 16×16 family room to the back of our house. We heard of Rob from a close family friend and were able to view first-hand the meticulous quality of the craftsmanship. We solicited a few estimates from vendors both large and small and Rob was the most competitive. A project of this size and scope was a challenge for our family (given that our kitchen was going to be out of commission); however, the team was very courteous and worked with us along the way. Robert Cromwell was wonderful. He had numerous ideas on how to make the space unique and was flexible with any requests we had along the way. His professional demeanor and experience stood out among anything else. He reviewed his team’s work and corrected any deficiencies that he saw. Not knowing anything about construction, we basically left the project in his hands and my wife and I were comfortable enough entrusting his team with taking care of us and our home. Robert always kept us apprised of his weekly plan and let us know of any changes to the schedule, so that the family could plan accordingly. The communication lines were always open and whenever we had a question or a concern, he answered them promptly. The final product is beyond what we had envisioned. The functionality of the space, as well as the aesthetic, is a perfect fit for our family. The new addition flows seamlessly into the rest of our house, which was very important to us.
